Editorial :
Many authors have told me that they need adequate time to present their research findings in reputed journals such as IMR. They also need time bound feedback and a publication schedule. These are very reasonable requests and we have decided to respond to this. We provide multiple opportunities for submission of papers through specific calls for papers. In every issue we have one or two calls for papers with sufficient time for submission and associated publication deadlines. We also call for papers from students for our annual student essay competition. I am hopeful that authors will respond enthusiastically to these new initiatives and find this to be an ideal conduit for paper publication.
Corporate transformation ushers in a fresh lease of life and vitality to an organisation and enables it to improve its competitive position in the market. Several events could be the cause for transformation of the organisation. In this issue, through our Interview feature we showcase an interesting example of corporate transformation through a quality management drive. The journey culminated in the bagging of the prestigious Deming Application Prize. The interview highlights the key elements of such a transformation effort. I hope our readers will find the interview insightful.
Large scale outsourcing of various business processes brings along with it several new dimensions and poses new challenges for the management. Our Round Table feature focuses on the interesting topic of Jobs on the Move. The main discussion paper and the two companion papers that form part of the round table provide an ideal introduction to the subject matter and kindle further research interest in the subject. I welcome more research in this area and contributions from readers on this emerging topic of interest to management practitioners as well as the research community.
I would once again like to remind you about the next IMR Conference scheduled for July 2006. The deadline for submission of abstracts is September 30, 2005. I encourage you to participate in the conference proceedings by sending your abstracts much before the deadline.
While we are in the process of planning the IMRC 2006 Conference, we have, selected some papers from the IMRC 2004 Conference for publication. In this issue, we bring to the readers the first set of four papers. These papers address alternative management perspectives in the field of innovation theory and practice. We will publish another set of papers in the forthcoming issue of IMR. I am hopeful that readers will find these and the other features including Management Educators Forum interesting.
