The Office of Post Graduate Porgramme in Public Policy Management (PGPPM), in association with the Public Policy Club (PPC), will host a summit titled ‘Utthan’, based on the theme ‘Bridging the Gap – Innovative and Inclusive India’, on November 10, 2019.
The goal of the summit is to create a platform for experts to deliberate, discuss, and drive change through high-level dialogue on the theme. Another critical aspect of the summit is innovation, which acts as a force multiplier in leveraging the potential of human resources in the country.
C.N. Ashwath Narayan, Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, will deliver the keynote address at the event. He is also the Minister of Higher Education, Information Technology & Biotechnology and Science & Technology in the Government of Karnataka.
The event will incorporate panel discussions that will see policy speakers and industry leaders discussing and debating on various topics surrounding the theme. The speakers include Mr. Tabrez Ahmad, Dell Technologies, Group Director Government Affairs and Public Policy, Ms. Nazia Erum, Author, PR and Advocacy, Amnesty International, and Ms. Abha Singh, former bureaucrat and Social Activist. Other panelists will be Mr. Sanjeev Garg, Managing Director, Pipavav Railway Corporation Limited, Mr. Davinder Sandhu, Partner, Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG), and Prof. G.Raghuram, Director IIM Bangalore.
A policy symposium (paper presentation) will also be hosted on public policy issues within the broad framework of the theme of Utthan, Bridging the Gap – Innovative and Inclusive India. The winners will be given cash prizes. India Fact quiz, a quiz competition in collaboration with IndiaSpend will be conducted digitally at IIMB Auditorium.

He is the Minister of Higher Education, Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology. He will be delivering the keynote address. He holds portfolios that have major impacts on both, innovation and inclusion.
Panel Discussion Topic – “Innovation in Infrastructure”
If there’s one thing holding back India’s economic growth, it’s the country’s massive infrastructure deficit. India needs $ 4.5 trillion by 2040 to develop its infrastructure to improve economic growth and well-being. For India growth story, innovation in infrastructure is a cornerstone for socioeconomic progress. The distinguished panellists would debate on the pathways that need to be taken to address the issue.

Panel Discussion Topic –“Road Map for Inclusive Development”
Globally, there is a clamour for creating a more inclusive world and India is a frontrunner as well. While the country’s growth trajectory has been noteworthy, the question that whether our policies are inclusive of all sections of the society- women, third gender, socio-economic backward classes, and physically disabled- lingers. The panellists would discuss key policy challenges that need to be addressed if India were to embark on sustainable and inclusive growth.
