Nicole Rigillo

Nicole completed her PhD in Anthropology at McGill University in Montreal in 2015. Her dissertation examined the cultural values underlying corporate social responsibility (CSR) programming in Bangalore. She is a qualitative researcher with an interest in contemporary development issues, and has over ten years of research experience conducting research for the public and private sector.

As a Visiting Scholar at the CCGC, Nicole is working on a book entitled The Corporate Social: Welfare and Neoliberalism in India Inc., which will explore how the increasing provision of public goods and social welfare by corporations, largely through CSR, is giving rise to new responsibilities, social relations, and forms of collectivity in India today. She is also an Assistant Professor at the Kautilya Entrepreneurship and Management Institute (KEMI) at Jain University, where she teaches graduate-level courses in business research methods and is working on a research project on changing intergenerational attitudes and values in relation to business and entrepreneurship in India.
