Centre for Corporate Governance and Citizenship
The IIMB Centre for Corporate Governance and Citizenship (CCGC) at the Indian Institute Management Bangalore was inaugurated in 2003, by Judge Mervyn King of South Africa, one of the world’s leading authorities on Ethics and Governance. The Centre brings the multidisciplinary contributions of various faculties under a single umbrella to improve the understanding of Governance, which encompasses Ethics and all aspects of Responsible Business and Sustainability. The Centre also provides policy support to the Government of India, encouraging debate and dissemination of information and engaging in ongoing research on contemporary topics. It engages with academia, industry and also with the not-for-profit sector.
The Centre was among the first to be accredited as a National Centre of Excellence by the National Foundation for Corporate Governance, sponsored by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. IIMB-CCGC has been recently selected to become a member of the Oversight Body of IIRC Academic Network (
Through its association with national and international academic institutions and industry chambers, the CCGC has played a leading role in the enhancement of corporate governance standards in the country. The unique combination of governance, ethics, and responsibility makes the Centre an appropriate destination for the confluence of the varied dimensions of good corporate behaviour as well as national and investor wealth creation.

Greeta Verghese
Chief Operations Officer - Centre for Corporate Governance and Citizenship
Greeta Verghese is the Chief Operations Officer at the Centre for Corporate Governance and Citizenship of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
She was the Executive Director at the Confederation of Indian Industry, an apex industry organization . She has over 30 plus years’ experience of working closely with Industry and Government and has hosted several summits , trade delegations and exhibitions.
Greeta had earlier also led CII’s Centre of Excellence on Quality, CII- Directors Guild and CII- Young Indians and has worked with business leaders from several sectors across industry in India and internationally.
Prabeetha Bolar
Research Associate - Centre for Corporate Governance and Citizenship
The Centre also has a research resource in Prabeetha Bolar, who in addition to being a Research Associate, also manages the content of the website www.teachcsr.com. She has over 12 years of industry experience and 9 years in information technology industry. She has completed M.B.A from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. She is an alumnus of National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal.
As a Research Associate at the CCGC, Prabeetha is working under the guidance of Prof.Vasanthi Srinivasan on a national business survey to understand citizen’s perception towards ethical business conduct in India and also the employee’s perception about their organizational practices and leadership that contribute to ethical conduct. She is also working on a research project on women in technology, which focuses on the lack of gender diversity among technology companies in India and aims to address issues of attraction, retention and the advancement of women up the technical ladder.
Nicole Rigillo
Visiting Scholar – Centre for Corporate Governance and Citizenship
Nicole completed her PhD in Anthropology at McGill University in Montreal in 2015. Her dissertation examined the cultural values underlying corporate social responsibility (CSR) programming in Bangalore. She is a qualitative researcher with an interest in contemporary development issues, and has over ten years of research experience conducting research for the public and private sector.
As a Visiting Scholar at the CCGC, Nicole is working on a book entitled The Corporate Social: Welfare and Neoliberalism in India Inc., which will explore how the increasing provision of public goods and social welfare by corporations, largely through CSR, is giving rise to new responsibilities, social relations, and forms of collectivity in India today. She is also an Assistant Professor at the Kautilya Entrepreneurship and Management Institute (KEMI) at Jain University, where she teaches graduate-level courses in business research methods and is working on a research project on changing intergenerational attitudes and values in relation to business and entrepreneurship in India.
