Turn, Turn, Turn … an idea to every issue

Thought Leadership, Public Policy

The name of the blog Turn, Turn, Turn picks up from Pete Seeger’s eponymously titled song Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is a Season) put out in his album The Bitter and Sweet (1962). The objective of this blog is to provide the entire IIM Bangalore community an opportunity to share ideas and observations rapidly. COVID-19 has changed most aspects of the business, and the society that we live in. It has made us realize that change and turn is what defines almost everything that we must deal with.

Leadership

The idea is to have two types of articles on this blog. This first is meant to be a short piece that seeks to document a process, phenomenon, or change in a 300-600-word format (with pictures and graphs where appropriate) to enable individual to rapidly document their observations. We will label these kind of articles as “Short Pieces”. The second kind of article is meant to be a little broader and integrative in nature to present a narrative, a policy recommendation, or thoughts on organizational form and to share developing ideas. These are meant to be 800 – 1000-word pieces and these articles will be “Perspective Pieces”.

We hope community members at IIM Bangalore, its Faculty, Students, Alumni and Officers, will use this Blog to write and share their ideas. The hope is that this will not only bring together the community but also allow its members to put together short and quick pieces online and receive initial reactions quickly. As ideas mature an integrative “Perspective Piece” may put out; in instances, where there are “Short pieces” already reflecting on relevant observations these “Perspective Pieces” can link backwards to enable the author a larger canvas within which to write and present their ideas. This also captures the natural process of thinking where in incremental ideas eventually add up to a larger perspective and it is in this philosophy that drives the design of this blog.

The 3T team consists of Professors Manaswini Bhalla from the ESS Area and Professor Arnab Mukherji from CPP as the faculty anchors. Further, Meenu Jothsna, Research Associate at CPP will ensure that all the dots are dotted, and the tees are crossed. Finally, the 3T team also will rely on the Communications unit for guidance from time to time.
