First cohort of entrepreneurs from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women Program at IIMB graduates on March 08

08 March, 2019: From declaring, with confidence, that numbers no longer fazed them to saluting the power of networks such as NSRCEL at IIMB, 55 women entrepreneurs made themselves and their supportive families proud when they graduated from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women Program at IIM Bangalore on International Women’s Day.
The evening of March 08, at the beautiful IIMB campus in the city, saw businesses as varied as food and beverages to AI to travel gain new perspective as the women running these businesses successfully spoke on how the program will help them scale, diversify and explore new markets.
Addressing his class, a visibly proud Program Director Prof. Suresh Bhagavatula, Chair of NSRCEL at IIMB, said buy-in from his faculty colleagues to teach the cohort had been a cakewalk thanks to the enthusiasm and unbridled interest in learning that the women entrepreneurs had displayed over a three-month period. “While you have made my task as Program Director easy, you have certainly set the bar high for the coming cohorts,” he smiled even as his students beamed in satisfaction.
Their belief in themselves and their ventures went up a few notches when the chief guest of the event and an achiever in her own right, Nivruti Rai, Country Head, Intel India & P Data Center Group at Intel Corporation, eloquently addressed challenges faced by women professionals and offered advice. “Stay positive, go out there and take risks and remember to stay relevant and politically aware,” she said, drawing from her own career to illustrate her point.
Two entrepreneurs from the graduating class – Akshara and Archana – made a one-minute presentation each of the key takeaways from the program. Winners of the B-Plan competition for the class were feted too.
Sonjoy Chatterjee, Chairman and Co-CEO, Goldman Sachs (India), welcomed the graduating class to the Goldman Sachs family and promised them support and networking opportunities.
Dignitaries who congratulated the graduating cohort included Prof. G. Raghuram, Director, IIM Bangalore, and Ravi Krishnan, Chief Administrative Officer, Goldman Sachs, Bengaluru.
