Projects led/ initiated in district

  • Fisheries Development and Promotion Project, Nainital – 

The group of projects aims to increase farmers income through skill trainings on post-harvest value addition to fish with support from DCFR-ICAR (expected to impact 600 people engaged in fish cultivation), provision of fish kiosks for selling raw and processed fish products locally (expected annual profit of Rs. 10 lakhs per beneficiary) and scooters with an ice box through the PMSY scheme. Focus is on increasing the number of ponds (150 new ponds in 2020-21) through a cluster-based approach with incentives from PMSY and MGNREGA. Future projects include setting up of a fish processing plant, creation of a farmer producer organization and converging with SHGs and tourism department to set up angling sites. 

 

  • Himalayan Kart - 

Facilitated the creation of online market linkages for more than 50 SHG products from 30,000 underprivileged SHG women in Nainital under the Hilans brand by reviewing and upgrading a dedicated e-commerce portal under NRLM (www.himalayankart.in) 

  • Facilitating discussions with major e-commerce platforms like Amazon Saheli and the district administration to onboard SHGs. 

 

  • Placement Linkages with SIIDCUL 

Liaised directly with RM SIIDCUL (Pantnagar, Uttarakhand) and industry HRs (Nestle, etc.) and coordinated with ITI principals in Nainital to facilitate sharing of information on existing vacancies and student resumes. 

 

  • Strengthening the skill ecosystem of Nainital: Supported the district administration in constituting District Skill Committee (DSC) and in promoting district level skill planning by drafting annual District Skill Development Plans for two consecutive years (2020-21 and 2021-22).
