IIM Bangalore ranked highest in India in the QS University Rankings 2019

IIM Bangalore ranked highest in India in the QS University Rankings 2019

The institute has been ranked amongst top 15 universities in Asia

6th March, India: IIM Bangalore has bagged the top spot in India in the QS University Rankings 2019, in the Business and Management Studies category. The institute has received the top spot, by breaking into the global 51 to 100 range and within the top 15 in Asia. This is reflective of IIMB strengthening its mission to provide thought leadership through high-quality research and nurture innovative global business leaders through holistic and transformative education.

In the earlier two years, IIMB had been ranked second in India, amongst the top 25 institutes in Asia and in the global 101-150 range.

The QS World University Rankings identifies the world’s top universities in individual subject areas so that students who know what subjects they are interested in can find suitable universities. Each of the subject rankings is compiled using four sources – the first two of these are QS’s global surveys of academics and employers, which are used to assess institutions’ international reputation in each subject. The second two indicators assess research impact, based on research citations per paper and H-Index in the relevant subject. The subject rankings do not require any input from universities themselves. QS ranks those institutions that are visible to them through their academic and employer reputational exercises.

Professor G Raghuram, Director, IIMB, said: “This ranking is another feather in IIMB’s cap and I congratulate everyone for this achievement. One of the important indicators for the rankings is assessing the research impact, based on research citations per paper and H-Index in the relevant subject, where the institution has met the paper threshold for that subject, both sourced from Elsevier’s Scopus database. IIMB’s score in the Academic survey has moved up significantly over the past 3 years. Rankings like the QS motivate us to continue our commitment to quality and excellence.”
