IIMB celebrates 73rd Independence Day

15 AUGUST 2019: On India’s 73rd Independence Day on August 15, 2019, the students, faculty, staff of IIMB and their family members assembled to salute the tricolour. Dr. G Raghuram, Director, IIM Bangalore, unfurled the national flag.
Dr. Raghuram greeted the gathering and reiterated the importance of Independence Day in our lives as the responsible citizens of India. He said, “This year is special for us to honor and recognize Mahatma Gandhi, who was the primary force behind our getting independence. His 150th birth anniversary will soon be upon us on October 2nd. Beyond independence, he challenged us on what it really means to be free, by focusing on simple living habits and creating an inclusive society.”
The students and staff sang patriotic and presented a thought-provoking play. The Director also gave away the awards to the winners of sports activities organized on campus.
The IIMB Chapter of SPICMACAY hosted a Hindustani vocal concert by Pt. Kaivalya Kumar Gurav. The concert also had performances by Shri Vyasamurti Katti and Shri Sridhar Mandre.
