Supply Chain Management Centre

IIMB has been actively pursuing Supply Chain Management as a major area of teaching and research. With a distinguished faculty line-up including world-class scholars and a talented pool of researchers and doctoral students (Fellow Programme in Management), IIMB has carried out dedicated research, teaching and consulting activities in different aspects of Supply Chain Management covering logistics management, inbound/outbound transportation, network design, modeling and optimization, partnership and negotiation, information technology and e-commerce and end-to-end Supply Chain Management strategies.

Recognizing the need for an effective mechanism to promote closer and enduring industry-institute collaboration, IIMB has started the SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT CENTRE (SCMC), a strategic multidisciplinary Centre of Excellence within IIMB, dedicated to carrying out specialized theoretical and applied research on Supply Chain Management with participation from a multidisciplinary faculty and industry practitioners. The Centre builds on the strengths of IIMB in research, education, and integration of inter-functional business disciplines to serve as a valuable knowledge-generating resource, and contributes to the development of cutting-edge strategies and practical solutions to problems encountered by organizations in the management of end-to-end supply chains.

To be an internationally recognized Centre for Supply Chain Management, dedicated to the creation and dissemination of new knowledge in the field.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Supply Chain Management Centre is to bring together practitioners from leading organizations and IIMB faculty and students to identify, document, research, develop and disseminate best practices in Supply Chain Management.

The mandate of the Centre includes:

Conducting research that contributes significantly to the theory and practice of Supply Chain Management
Acting as a forum to initiate interaction and dialogue on supply chain related issues, challenges and solutions between industry and academia

Chairperson, Supply Chain Management @ IIMB

Greetings from the Supply Chain Management Centre at Indian Institute of Management @ Bangalore (IIMB)!

IIMB has been at the forefront of supply chain management education and research for many years. With a distinguished faculty line-up including world-class scholars and a talented pool of researchers and Ph.D students, IIMB carries out dedicated research, teaching, and consulting activities in a range of areas. These include strategic sourcing, digital supply chains, operational issues in the sharing economy, sustainable supply chains, healthcare operations, retail analytics, and revenue management.

Dr. Aditya Gupta is the Chief Operations Officer at the Supply Chain Management Centre of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

Aditya is a Ph.D, MBA, Computer Engineer and CFA by qualification. He comes with over 24 years of diverse experience in the areas of Supply Chain Management, General Management, Finance and Sales, of which he spent 23 years in corporate and about one year in teaching. He has worked with leading corporates like the TVS Group, Tata Group, Virgin Group, Moser Baer, Jindal Group, Essar Group in various managerial and senior managerial roles. He has an excellent track record of consistently meeting the most challenging corporate goals with success.

His areas of experience include Warehousing, Transportation, Import/Export Management, Planning and Inventory Management. Aditya brings with him knowledge of the expectations of both internal and external customers of the supply chain function. He has been a part of start-up organizations where he has been responsible for setting up supply chain function, implementing its policies, processes, and procedures.

Advisory Council

The SCMC functions under the direction of a senior faculty member of IIMB and is supported by an Advisory Council consisting of corporate sponsors’ representatives and the Institute’s nominees.

The Advisory Council is responsible for identifying and determining the research agenda of the Centre. It also formulates the Centre's policies and provides direction for research areas and research priorities.
