IIMB’s Centre for Software & IT Management and the Software Freedom Law Centre to host a roundtable on ‘Internet Shutdowns’ on November 11
06 November 2020, Bengaluru: The Centre for Software & Information Technology Management (CSITM) at IIM Bangalore and the Software Freedom Law Centre (SFLC.in) will host a roundtable on ‘Internet Shutdowns’ on November 11 (Wednesday), 2020, from 04.00 pm to 06.00 pm, as part of the ‘Technology and Society’ series.
The panellists will include Prof. Rajeev Gowda, Ex-Member of Parliament and former faculty, IIM Bangalore, Anuradha Bhasin, Editor, Kashmir Times, Rohini Lakshane, Director, Bachchao Project and Prasanth Sugathan, Legal Director, SFLC.in. Prof. Neena Pandey, faculty, IIM Visakhapatnam will act as the moderator of the discussion.
The CSITM and SFLC.in aim to conduct a series of events on issues related to technology and society. This is a sequel to the successful events conducted in 2019 under the series ‘Future of Tech’. These events will cover contemporary aspects of technology in society such as governance, privacy, data protection, ethics, etc. The objective is to bring together key stakeholders - policy makers, researchers, academics, legal experts, journalists and users - to discuss the social and ethical aspects of some of the key technology usage trends and governmental decisions affecting everyday life. These events will be held through an online meeting platform and the outcome will be widely disseminated.
