Professor Rebecca Henderson of the Harvard Business School to deliver the Golden Jubilee Foundation Day Lecture on ‘Reimagining Capitalism in a World on Fire’ on 28th October
One of 25 University Professors at Harvard, Dr. Henderson is also Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research and Fellow of The British Academy as well as American Academy of Arts and Sciences
29 September, 2023, Bengaluru: American Economist Professor Rebecca Henderson of the Harvard Business School will deliver the Foundation Day Lecture on, ‘Reimagining Capitalism in a World on Fire’, on the 50th Foundation Day of IIM Bangalore, on 28th October 2023.
Dr. Rebecca Henderson is one of 25 University Professors at Harvard, a Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and a Fellow of both The British Academy and of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She also has more than 25 years of major public board experience.
Her research explores the degree to which the private sector can play a major role in building a more sustainable economy. Her publications include ‘Accelerating Energy Innovation: Insights from Multiple Sectors’ (University of Chicago Press), ‘Leading Sustainable Change: An Organizational Perspective’ (Oxford University Press) and ‘A Political Economy of Justice’ (University of Chicago Press). She is also the author of ‘Reimagining Capitalism in a World on Fire’, which was shortlisted for the FT/McKinsey 2020 Business Book of the Year Award.
A host of activities, led by the institute’s students, alumni and staff, are in store to commemorate the momentous occasion of IIM Bangalore’s Golden Jubilee. The institute is proud and honoured to host the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, on 26th October 2023, who will inaugurate the celebrations with an address and the launch of a book on the IIMB campus as well as a film on IIMB. She will flag off the Golden Jubilee Run on campus by students, faculty, staff and alumni. The Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thaawar Chand Gehlot, will participate in the inauguration and address the gathering.
Other highlights include ‘Suvarna Sangeet’ – a grand music presentation by IIMB’s PGP alumna and noted classical vocalist Manasi Prasad and her troupe on 28th October, bringing together a wide range of music genres, from Indian classical to Western classical with fusion and world music elements. A Hindi play titled, ‘Gagan Damama Bajyo’ will be presented by the troupe ‘TheatreNama’, on 29th October. Written by actor-playwright-poet Piyush Mishra and directed by Aashish Rana, the play chronicles the thought process and experiences of the revolutionary hero of the Indian independence movement, Bhagat Singh. The celebrations also include scholarship awards, achievement awards, felicitation of former employees, Staff Recreation Committee (SRC) prize distribution, cultural program, quiz, and more.
