IIM Bangalore to host the valedictory for Phase 2 of the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship Programme on 31st October
In 2021-2023, with the support of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, IIMB completed Phase 2 of the MGNF Programme
30 October, 2023, Bengaluru: The successful completion of Phase 2 of the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) Programme at IIM Bangalore, with the support of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, will be marked by a Valedictory Ceremony, to be held at the IIMB auditorium from 10 am on 31st October 2023.
The virtual Convocation will be held by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, New Delhi. Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India, will join the ceremony online and deliver the keynote address. The vote of thanks will be delivered by Shri Nilambuj Sharan, Sr. Economic Advisor, MSDE.
The welcome address will be delivered by Prof. Arnab Mukherji, MGNF Programme Director and Chairperson, Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management, IIM Bangalore, who will share the MGNF journey highlighting the achievements of the programme.
Shri Rajeev Gowda, Vice Chairman, Karnataka SITK, the Chief Guest for the event, will deliver a special address on, ‘Development Paths in Karnataka: A View through the SITK Lens’.
While certificates will be awarded to all the MGNF Fellows of Phase 2, the best performers will be felicitated during the ceremony.
One Fellow from each of the six IIMs will share their experiences during their MGNF journey and their takeaways from the programme. Some of the Fellows from Phase 1 of the programme will also attend the event. Participating in a panel discussion, they will share their experiences and the social impact they are bringing across the development sector.
One of the documentary films developed by the MGNF team will be screened. The book, ‘Stories of Change’, created and designed by IIM Bangalore, will also be released.
Poster Presentation cum Exhibition and other events
To showcase the impactful interventions of the Fellows which were carried out in six states of India, namely, Haryana, Odisha, Tripura, Karnataka, Goa and Uttarakhand, and exhibit handicrafts procured from local artisans and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from districts where they were deployed, a poster presentation and exhibition of handicrafts will be held on 30th and 31st October 2023. Plantation of ‘AGAR’ plants procured by a Fellow from Tripura will also be done. On 30th October, these events will be held from 5 pm to 8 pm at the MDC Yoga Hall, while on 31st October, they will be held from 10 am to 2 pm, opposite to the IIMB Auditorium. Documentary films, created from across various states, will be screened during this pre-event.

MGNF, a two-year programme, is a unique opportunity for young, dynamic individuals to contribute to enhancing skill development and promote rural employment at the district level. Phase II of MGNF, inaugurated on 25th October 2021, was a nation-wide roll-out in collaboration with other IIMs.
