CSTIM will conduct the seminar as part of its initiative to promote dissemination and application of knowledge for the benefit of academics and professionals from all walks of industry. The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A session.

Abstract
The use of digital and information systems (IS) technologies is growing in India and globally. With diverse benefits, both private and public, people need to understand the costs as well. In this webinar, the focus will be on public costs in terms of impact to the environment. Discussions will include environmental consequences over the life cycle of digital and IS technologies. Diverse costs including CO2 emissions, resource usage, e-waste and pollution, will be examined. The discussion will also cover historical changes, the current levels and trends from different viewpoints, with focus on emissions of greenhouse gases and air pollutants from information systems technology growth; responsible use of smart and green technologies; global status and local challenges - expression of India scenario on the environmental impact of digitization from a life cycle perspective, and e-waste as a material circularity challenge.
Speaker Profiles
Krish Vijayaraghavan is a Principal at Ramboll, based at Novato, California and is an expert in NEPA, EIA, Air & Climate and PFAS solutions. With over 20 years of experience in environmental practice, he has held leadership positions. He has a B Tech from IIT Bombay, an MS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kansas, and an MS in Environmental Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
Dr. Jyoti Bhat is a technology leader with about 30-plus years of experience in the IT industry encompassing Program Management, Process Improvement, Product Development, Corporate Training and Research. She currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at IIM Bangalore and is the Co-founder of NextScale Tech Private Limited. She is passionate about digital technologies and their impact on business and society. She holds a BE from BMS College of Engineering and a PhD from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.
Keerthi D Souza is a sustainability professional. She is the Managing Director, Life Giver Professional Service LLP. She serves in leadership positions in various organizations primarily related to sustainability - Seeds of Sustainability, CAHO, Dialog and Global Society for HSE Professionals, to name a few. She holds a BE from Visvesvaraya Technological University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from Karnataka State Open University (KSOU).
Dr. Uttam Doraswamy is a technology leader and is the Founder & Director at Elxion Private Limited, an e-waste recycling company based in Bangalore that helps companies achieve higher sustainability through e-waste recycling. He has published widely in top journals and holds multiple patents. He holds a BE from BMS College of Engineering, an M Sc in Chemical Engineering and a PhD from Imperial College of London.
Dr. Vivek is an Independent Researcher and works on various research projects in the water sector and the broader environment sector, with focus on the role of human behavior. He is also working on a NITI Aayog behavioural intervention research project under Government of India’s Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) program. He has published widely and holds numerous certifications and awards to his credit. He holds a B Tech from IIT Kanpur and a PhD from IIM Bangalore.
