Annual event highlights Institute’s commitment to supporting holistic employee welfare through higher education initiatives 

25 October, 2024, Bengaluru: Indian Institute of Management Bangalore commemorated its 51st Foundation Day with a series of events and awards celebrating academic, cultural, and community achievements. The celebration commenced with an inclusive cultural gathering led by IIMB Director Prof. Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Prof. M. Jayadev, Dean Administration and Col. (Retd.) S.D. Aravendan, Chief Administrative Officer, and esteemed alumni, bringing together the IIMB community for a memorable occasion. 

As part of the festivities, various awards were presented to honor academic and extracurricular achievements. This was made possible through higher education and welfare initiatives that uplift employees and the families that are associated with the institution. 

The following awards were distributed:  

  • Young Achievement Awards 
  • Anti-Ragging Poster making competition  
  • Hindi Fortnight – 2024 competition  
  • SRC Awards 
  • Presentation of PGP Scholarship awards PGP 2001 and PGP 2008 and Raghuvir Kothi Memorial Scholarship   

Award Highlights 

Young Achievement Awards 
The Young Achievement Awards recognized outstanding accomplishments by children of IIMB staff members. Ms. Komala Devi, Administrative Officer (Student Affairs and Hostel), announced the winners. 

In Academic Achievement, Ms. Raya Ray, daughter of Arindam Roy (Assistant Manager, Admission Office), received first prize for securing 90.5% in the 10th standard. Master Likith B N, son of Ms. V. Bhavya (Project Executive, Office of Dean - Programmes), received first prize in Sport Achievement for setting a world record in blindfolded solving of the 3x3 snake wooden Rubik’s cube, as recognized by the International Books of Records.

Anti-Ragging Poster Making Competition 
The Anti-Ragging Poster Making Competition held in August saw active student participation. Winners included Mr. Saurav Das (PGPEM) in first place, followed by Mr. Jason Varghese Andrews (PGPEM) as the first runner-up, and Mr. Sampath Majeti (PGPBA) and Ms. Shivangi Baswal (PGP) as joint second runners-up.

PGP Scholarships (2001 and 2008) 
IIMB Director Prof. Rishikesha, along with alumni representatives, awarded the PGP Scholarships (2001 and 2008) to outstanding students, with funds contributed by the respective alumni batches.  

Under the Bachelors category, Ms. Ankitha M and Mr. Manoj Kumar S received the PGP 2001 scholarship. They were felicitated by Somnath Manna PGP 2001, Gaurav Vohra PGP 2001, Priya Gupte PGP 2001. 

Ms. Latha Shree Na and Mr. Umesh B were awarded the PGP 2008 scholarship. In the 1st and 2nd PUC category, Ms. Hamsa A. S, Ms. Varsha N R, Ms. Nanditha, and Mr. Ganesh GM received the PGP 2008 scholarship. They were felicitated by Jidesh Haridas PGP 2008 and Srijith Mohanan PGP 2008. 

Shri Raghuvir Kothi Memorial Scholarship 
This scholarship, awarded to a girl child of an IIMB staff member based on merit and financial need, was presented to Ms. Kirana B, daughter of Bislaiah Shetty. She was felicitated by alumni Shashank Kothi (PGP 2000) and Swapna Mitra (PGP 1999). 

Cultural Evening by the Staff Recreation Committee 

To conclude the celebrations, the Staff Recreation Committee (SRC) hosted an evening of cultural programs, ushering in a spirited 51st Foundation Day.
