Dr Babita Bhatt

20 November, 2024, Bengaluru: The Research and Publications Office at IIM Bangalore will host a research seminar by Prof. Babita Bhatt, Australian National University, on November 27, 2024, at 3 p.m. in Classroom P-22.

Prof. Bhatt will speak on ‘Amplifying scholarship through engaging in policy and practice: Insights from the Academy of Management Perspectives (AMP)’ She will explore how can we produce and disseminate research that has real-world impact.

In this talk, Dr Babita Bhatt, Associate Editor at the Academy of Management Perspectives (AMP), will discuss how the journal aims to bridge the academic and practitioner gap by inviting phenomena-driven, evidence-based and co-designed research. The talk will also highlight the new formats introduced by AMP, such as the practitioner's perspective and provide guidelines for publishing engaged research.

Speaker Profile: Dr Babita Bhatt’s research examines the role of social enterprises and place-based community organizing in addressing societal challenges. Particularly, she is interested in understanding how social change initiatives navigate power asymmetries and ethical complexity in resource constraints and marginalized social contexts.

Her research has been published in leading outlets, including the Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Management Studies, Organization Studies, and Organization Science. She is currently serving as a co-guest editor at the Information System Journal and Business & Society on special issues related to polarization and the sharing economy at the base of the pyramid.  She is also Associate Editor at Academy of Management Perspectives (AMP).

In education, she follows student centred learning that is rooted in rigours research. Her teaching is also informed by my experiences of teaching and working in Canada, HongKong, India, Spain and now in Australia.
