DCAL to host 11th International Conference on Business Analytics and Intelligence
3-day symposium from 9 to 11 December set to foster purpose-driven data leadership
5 December, 2024, Bengaluru: The Data Centre and Analytics Lab (DCAL) at IIM Bangalore will host the 11th International Conference on Business Analytics and Intelligence (BAI) from 9 to 11 December 2024 at IIMB. The annual symposium—a landmark event among academicians, practitioners and Big Data professionals—aims to advance solution-building for complex domain and sector specific problems in the field of analytics. Over the decade, the BAI Conference has gathered academic and corporate professionals for 200+ annual paper presentations, workshops, and panel discussions to address emerging concepts in data science over the 3 days of the event. A pre-conference workshop on ‘Transforming Possibilities: Harnessing Generative AI with LLMs, GPT and ChatGPT’, from 7-8 December, will serve as a precursor to the grand event.
Under the guidance of Prof. U Dinesh Kumar, Chair, DCAL, day 1 the conference this year will feature—Prof. Pulak Ghosh, Decision Sciences area, for the introductory session on ‘Democratization of AI: Impact on Business, Economy and Society’, followed by Niladri Ray, Country Head, India, and VP Engineering and Amit Sharma, VP and Global Head – AI/ML of Flexera, for the plenary session on ‘Technology Intelligence for the Cloud Era – Powered by FinOps and AI’. Prof. Amit Prakash, IIIT, Bangalore, and Sanjeev S Athreya, Head – Retail and Commerce Practice, Thoughtworks, will observe ‘AI in Modern Retail: Perspectives from the Frontline’, as part of second session. Dr. Vigneshwaran S R and Doctoral scholar Antra of IIMB will lead the ‘AI Applications in Healthcare’ session. Concluding session of the day, ‘Enhancing Alarm Intelligence through Machine Learning’, will be delivered by Rajarajan Rathina, VP and Strategic Business Unit (SBU) Head, Fichtner Consulting Engineers (India) Pvt. Ltd.
Day 2 will observe Nitin Sachdeva, Principal Data Scientist, TVS, for a session on ‘Intelligent Supply Chain Networks: Integrating AI and OR for Predictive and Prescriptive Supply Chain Optimization’. Kiran R, VP Engineering, Oracle, will address the gathering on ‘Generative AI for Enterprise Transformation with Case Studies’. Prof. M Mathirajan, IISc Bangalore, will discuss ‘A Prescriptive Problem and Solution Methodologies of Indian Urban Road Transport Organizations for Minimizing the Operational Cost of Intracity Buses’.
A panel discussion on ‘Enterprise Applications of AI Beyond Tableau and PowerBI’ will bring together- Prof. U Dinesh Kumar; Sharada Sringeswara, Adjunct Faculty, IIMB; Raman Narasimhan, VP, Cognizant Technology Solutions; Pankaj Baid, VP Responsible AI Group CDO, Standard Chartered; and Kiran R, VP Engineering, Oracle.
Taranjeet Kaur, VP - Media, Digital Marketing and Brand PR, Tata Consumer Products Limited will deliver the session on ‘AI in Marketing & use cases of Tata Consumer Products Limited’, whereas Amit Kapur, VP Data and Analytics, Lowes India, will discuss ‘Computer Vision in Retail’. The final sessions of the conference will witness— Meenakshi Aggarwal, Data and Analytics Manager, Falabella, for the session on ‘KPIs, Code, and Chaos: Bringing an Algorithm to Life’, meanwhile Nithya Subramanian, Head Data and Analytics, Kellanova, will explore ‘Generative AI – Opportunities and Challenges’.
The 3-day symposium will culminate with a valedictory ceremony, where 3 outstanding papers will be honored with the Best Paper Award.
