Centre for Capital Markets & Risk Management to conduct certificate programme on Bloomberg Database and NSMART on 10 & 11 February

The Bloomberg and NSE Smart Certification Programme will introduce participants to financial management and investment analysis using the Bloomberg Terminal

23 January, 2025, Bengaluru: The Centre for Capital Markets and Risk Management (CCMRM) at IIM Bangalore will conduct a two-day certificate programme on Bloomberg Database and NSMART, from 10 am to 5 pm on 10th and 11th February 2025.

The course, to be conducted by experienced market traders, will introduce the participants to financial management and investment analysis using the Bloomberg Terminal to motivate and support fundamental principles. This course requires participants to retrieve, analyze and interpret economic, accounting as well as financial information. Bloomberg Data Analytics will help bridge the textbook material covered in their respective finance courses to the general professional practices followed in the finance industry. Bloomberg know-how is aimed to give a recruiting edge to the participants. Upon completion of the programme, all the participants will receive certificates. They will also have free access to the software and lab for up to 10 days, after the training.

The topics to be covered include: Terminal Orientation; Macroeconomic and Excel Add-In; Bloomberg Excel Add-In; Bloomberg Functions and BMC (Bloomberg Market Concepts) Overview; NSMART Orientation; Trading Using NSMART; Portfolio Analysis, and Assignment and Project.

Till date, nine such workshops have been conducted which have seen 152 attendees. Students from various institutions, faculty and other professionals including students and staff from IIMB, have been actively engaged in these workshops.

Bloomberg Terminal is a real-time professional computer platform widely used in finance and business administration fields. The Bloomberg platform is adopted by more than 800 business schools worldwide with more than 300,000 terminals. The terminal provides access to real-time and historical financial time series data, accounting information, risk metrics across various markets and securities, economic and government data, and analytics tools. One of the key features of Bloomberg is its extensive news coverage. Users can stay updated with the latest market-moving news, economic indicators, corporate announcements and geopolitical developments through Bloomberg’s global network analysts.

For those who are involved in trading, the terminal provides a platform for executing trades across various asset classes. Users can conduct transactions effectively within the terminal’s ecosystem, whether it is stocks or bonds or any other financial instruments.
