DCAL at IIM Bangalore to host 7th annual Women in Data Science (WiDS) Bangalore Conference 2025
WiDS to gather AI, ML, and analytics experts; women shaping the future of AI policy and governance
27 March, 2025, Bengaluru: The Data Centre and Analytics Lab (DCAL) at IIM Bangalore will host the 7th annual Women in Data Science (WiDS) Bangalore Conference on April 12, 2025, from 8 am to 5 pm in Classroom N-001, at IIMB.

WiDS, an initiative by Stanford University, aims to inspire and educate data scientists worldwide, regardless of gender, and support women in the field. The conference features a global gathering with over 150 regional events, a datathon encouraging participants to hone their skills through a social impact challenge, and a podcast series featuring leaders discussing their work, journeys, and lessons learned.
The summit will be held under the leadership of WiDS Ambassadors- IIMB faculty Prof. U Dinesh Kumar, Chairperson, DCAL, Decision Sciences area; Ms. Shailaja Grover, Ms. Harini Thammaiah, Ms. Afreen Aman, Ms. Ashwini Chandrashekharaiah; and Ms. Harini Anand.
This year’s conference will showcase accomplished women data scientists and luminaries featuring insightful keynotes, cutting-edge technology talks, and thought-provoking discussions. Organizations such as Accenture, Biocon Biologics, Deloitte, EXL, Fractal Analytics, GE Appliances, Genpact, Michelin, PayPal, Target, and Visa, among others, will share their expertise, offering a deep dive into AI transformations, generative AI advancements, large-scale machine learning systems, data science in business, and the role of women in shaping AI policy and governance.
The session will also include sessions on scaling AI solutions, enhancing learning experience with data, business storytelling through analytics, and leveraging AI to tackle industry challenges. The event is inclusive to all genders and invites data science enthusiasts across industry and academia to engage, learn, and grow. With an expected attendance of 200+ participants, the conference promises a day of insightful discussions and networking opportunities.
