Prof. Trilochan Sastry to deliver special lecture on ‘Life within IIM Bangalore and life outside’ on 3 April
The lecture will mark his retirement after 22 years of service at IIMB
29 March, 2025, Bengaluru: Prof. Trilochan Sastry, Decision Sciences area, is retiring from the services of the Institute with effect from 31 March 2025, after 22 years of service at IIM Bangalore. Honoring the milestone, Prof. Sastry will deliver a special lecture on ‘Life within IIM Bangalore and life outside’ at 11.30 am, in the IIMB auditorium, on 3 April 2025.

Prof. Trilochan’s research interests lie in areas including supply chain management, operations, social entrepreneurship, rural development, and good governance. He served as the Dean of IIM Bangalore from 2008 to 2011.
His extensive body of scholarship has been published in international journals related to Operations Research and on broader topics related to Supply Chain Management, Telecommunications, Software, Automobile Industry, and Social Entrepreneurship. Additionally, he has authored several management case studies on Operations Management, Ethics, Change Management, and Electoral Reforms.
Prof. Sastry has held visiting faculty positions at institutions such as the International University of Japan, Niigata, Japan; Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; MIT, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA; and has previously served as the Associate Dean (Research) and Professor at the Indian School of Business.
He has consulted for various corporate, government, and international agencies on wide-ranging issues such as corporate strategy, restructuring of organizations, evaluation of large development programmes, cooperatives/producer companies, and governance. He is also actively involved in pro-bono initiatives for NGOs and the development sector.
His contributions to civil society have been widely recognized, earning him numerous accolades such as the CNN-IBN, NDTV, and Times of India (TOI) Indian of the Year awards. He is also a recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from IIT Delhi and the Outstanding Young Teacher Award from the Association for Indian Management Schools.
