Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw is Chairperson of Board of Governors at IIM Bangalore
Takes over from Mr. Mukesh D Ambani; she is the first woman Chairperson of any IIM Board
Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw as the Chairperson of its Board of Governors.
At the meeting of the Board of Governors of IIM Bangalore held on February 11, 2014 the Chairperson, Mr. Mukesh Ambani, advised the Board of his decision to step down. The Board, accordingly, appointed Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw as the Chairperson of the IIMB Board with effect from February 11, 2014.
Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Chairman and Managing Director, Biocon Limited, has been a member of the IIMB Board for the past several years. She is the first woman Chairperson of any IIM Board. She takes over from Mr. Mukesh D. Ambani, who has been the Chairman of the Board for the last eight years. The Ministry of HRD has notified this change.
Mr. Ambani thanked the Board of Governors, the faculty, the staff, the alumni and the students of IIM Bangalore for all support and their efforts in making IIMB as a world-class institution.
