Richness of language, ease of adaption
Indian Institute of Management Bangalore celebrated Hindi Divas on September 16, 2013. The annual event - celebrated as part of implementation of the Official Language Policy of the Government of India - encourages the progressive use of Hindi in all sections of the Institute. Activities under the first part of the Hindi Month Celebrations will go on till Sep 30, 2013.
IIMB's Chief Administrative Officer In-charge Colonel (Retd) Raghbir Singh welcomed the gathering. Chief Human Resources Officer Shivakumar Venkateswaran said, "Language should unite people and bring them closer. Keep the language simple so that it is user-friendly."
Hindi Officer Neetha John read out Dean (Administration) S Raghunath's message, where he emphasized the richness of the language. In his message, he said: "Many popular English words are used in their original form in Hindi and this reflects the adaptive nature and flexibility of the language".
Dr Mangal Prasad, Senior Manager (Retd.), KIOCL Limited, spoke on 'Provisions, Rules and Implementation of Official Language'.
The programme's highlight was a 'Kavya Goshti', which had Ms Sunita Saini and Mr Surendra Saini read out famous lines from poems celebrating Hindi as a language. Mr Surendra Kohali had the audience under his spell with some exquisite 'shayari'.
