Prof. Malika named among the ‘Poets and Quants Best 40-Under-40 MBA Professors 2024’ worldwide

Prof. Malika’s research investigates how cross-cultural differences affect consumer behavior, with focus on impact of resource scarcity
21 May, 2024, Bengaluru: Prof. Malika, faculty of the Marketing area of IIM Bangalore and IIMB Young Faculty Research Chair, has been named among the ‘2024 Best 40-Under-40 MBA Professors’ worldwide, by Poets and Quants. The award is aimed to identify and highlight the achievements of the most promising young professors who are at present teaching in MBA programmes, worldwide.
Prof. Malika earned her Fellowship in Marketing from Indian School of Business and M Phil in Social Psychology from University of Cambridge. Her research investigates how cross-cultural differences affect consumer behavior, with a particular focus on the impact of resource scarcity. Her work was highlighted in a Forbes article which examines India’s national brand equity.
Prior to joining IIMB, she was an Assistant Professor and Faculty Fellow in Marketing at New York University’s Stern School of Business. She was the first Indian PhD recipient of NYU’s Provost Fellowship and is the youngest and the only consumer behavior faculty in India to have authored four articles in leading journals, including the Journal of Marketing and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
This year, she won IIM’s Teaching Excellence Award, a recognition seldom given to first-time faculty members. She was also chosen for the esteemed Harvard Global Colloquium, joining a group of distinguished professors from across the globe as the youngest faculty member in the 2023-24 cohort.
Prof. Malika says that what she enjoys most about teaching business students is the dynamic nature of the field, which ensures lifelong learning, as well as interacting with students from diverse academic backgrounds.
