Fourth batch of EPGP commences at IIMB
The fourth batch of the EPGP, IIM Bangalore's Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP), commenced on April 11, 2012. The EPGP is a full time, one year residential programme for experienced professionals with seven to fifteen years of experience. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Avinash Vashistha, Chairman and Managing Director, Accenture India.
The programme touched a new high this year with the largest batch ever to register. Comprising 74 students, the class includes professionals from industries as diverse as Finance, Consulting, Aeronautics, FMCG, Defense, IT and Pharmaceuticals. The average work experience of the cohort is 10 years, with around three years of international experience. The batch also includes 10 women students, the highest number since the inception of the programme.
"It is with immense pride and satisfaction that I welcome the fourth batch of the EPGP to IIM Bangalore," said Prof. L. Prasad, Chairperson of the programme. "The course has been purposefully designed to be rigorous, demanding and fast paced, so that students are taken out of their comfort zones and challenged to reflect deeply on their professional experiences. The intention is to prepare them to be future leaders capable of leading their organizations in the globalized world of the twenty-first century."
Prashanth Bajaj, an entrepreneur, when asked about his motivation for joining EPGP, answers, "With a background in business, I realized it was essential to get a solid grounding in management skills. The seminar series, international immersion and interaction with industry leaders are an intrinsic part of the EPGP, and will help me acquire a multi-faceted dimension to my thought process and approach".
As a prelude to demanding classroom sessions, an outbound learning programme was organized by IIMB for the students at Pegasus. In addition to serving as an icebreaker, the two day workshop was useful in imparting various aspects of team building such as goal alignment and interpersonal interaction.
At the end of the workshop, one of the students, Aparajita Chattopadhayay, said, "It helped us understand and appreciate the relevance of team dynamics, especially in such a competitive environment and gave me the opportunity to interact with people from diverse backgrounds with varying interests."
Keeping in mind the changing dynamics of today's business arena, the curriculum of the programme has been restructured this year. With increased focus on key areas of top management, the challenging and globally-oriented programme will leave EPGP students well equipped to take up responsible positions at senior management levels.
