Research seminar by Prof. N. Balakrishnan, on December 9
03 DECEMBER, 2024: The Research and Publications Office at IIM Bangalore will host a seminar on ‘Degradation Models for Reliability Data’ by Prof. N. Balakrishnan, McMaster University, on 9th December 2024 in Classroom Q-101 at 2.30 p.m.
In his talk, he will first introduce the idea of degradation models for reliability data and then describe inferential methods for both fixed-effects and random-effects models. He will next describe the effects of misspecification of the underlying model. Finally, he will discuss an optimal design of a degradation experience subject to budget constraint. This talk will based on a number of papers published on this topic.
Speaker Profile:
Professor N. Balakrishnan is affiliated to the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at McMaster University, Canada. He is internationally recognized for his research in statistics and applied probability, as well as his pioneering contributions to applied sciences and engineering, including analytical modelling, and the development of new applications. He has written books on the theory and applications of statistics. Professor Balakrishnan is a Distinguished University Professor at McMaster since 2014. He has received the President's Award for Excellence in Graduate Supervision in 2018 and has won the McMaster Students Union Teaching Excellence Award five times. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of Communications in Statistics, and Mathematical Methods of Statistics, Associate Editor for 11 journals, and Advisory Editor for two journals. Since 2022, he is an Elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
