Editorial
Over the past few years, our journal has increasingly been recognized as the leading management research journal published out of India. Central to this achievement is the rigorous refereeing process that our editorial team follows. Our journal is now poised to take another giant leap forward. We have recently concluded a formal co-publishing arrangement with Elsevier, the premier international publishing house. The print version of the journal will continue to be available to subscribers in India and the SAARC countries as before. In the rest of the world, IMR will be available through ScienceDirect®, Elsevier's electronic service. This arrangement would entail changes in the process for submitting articles, and in the formatting and referencing specifications, details of which will be updated on our website in due course. The year 2009 has seen us busy with a full complement of activities. Recently we organised a Doctoral Conference, envisaged as the first of an annual series, which featured paper presentations by doctoral students from select institutes. The conference, sponsored by Canara Bank, was a great success and the three best papers were given the following awards (in alphabetical order):
Dipak C Jain Award: 'Early Mover Advantages: An Empirical Analysis of Indian Cellular Market' by Rajkumar Upadhyay, IIM Bangalore
Pradip N Khandwalla Award: 'Do Emerging Economy Firms Need Ambidextrous Strategies for Internationalization?' by Sathyajit Gubbi and Prof Sougata Ray, IIM Calcutta
Marti G Subrahmanyam Award: 'Institutional Legacy and Technological Knowledge Sourcing Trajectory in Emerging Economy Firms' by Indrajit Mukherjee and Prof Sougata Ray, IIM Calcutta
We are also excited about the IMR Conference 2010 on Global Competitiveness through Human Resource Management where we will bring you an interesting mix of paper presentations and practitioner sessions. Along with my co-chairs Prof Mukta Kulkarni and Prof Vasanthi Srinivasan, I look forward to your participation in the conference.
The past year has seen a steep increase in our production costs, and we are now compelled to increase our print subscription rates. Effective from January 2010, our print subscription rates will be revised (details in subscription form). We look forward to your continued support of IMR and our various activities
This issue of IMR brings our regular mix of articles and features. We have articles on the regulation of spectrum allocation and dispute management in the Indian telecom industry, the demographic differences in consumer exploratory tendencies, the making of a successful response to a request for proposals in the IT industry, and a Round Table discussion anchored by Prof B Mahadevan, which brings together a panel discussion and a presentation on global sourcing through electronic markets by researchers and practitioners
Wishing you all a prosperous new year
