Unmaad: Hues of Hysteria: Day 1
01 February, 2019: The three-day cultural festival at IIM Bangalore, Unmaad 2019, began on a vibrant note with plays, performances and plenty of prizes won.
Prof. Padmini Srinivasan, Chair of the two-year MBA at IIM Bangalore, inaugurated the fest at the IIMB auditorium on Thursday (January 31). The inauguration was followed by a classical dance performance by students of the Ramana Maharshi Academy for the Blind. A Kupava light drawing show by the Ukrainian artiste, Nadiya, mesmerized the audience.
‘Nukkad Natak’ – plays – at L Square, the nerve-centre of the IIMB hostel community, drew large crowds. Other events included Tug of Words (a quiz), Action Packed (a game like charades), I’m Sherlocked (a treasure hunt), Gangs of Unmaad (a series of challenges), Life in Technicolor (story and painting), Anaahad (vocal music), and Haute Couture (a fashion show). The final of Footloose, the freestyle dance competition, was also hosted at L Square.
‘Nukkad Natak’ was won by Team Aina from MIT Manipal, with RV College of Engineering emerging the runners-up. Life in Technicolor was won by Harshita Snehi from Christ College with Praful Jain from Christ College DMS bagging the second prize.
In the World Cultural Fiesta, there were performances by Bruno Eddie (fire artiste) and Sophie von Matérn (singer-songwriter from Sweden). Professional bands and unplugged performances kept the young audience happy.
Unmaad 2019 continues until 3rd February, with many more competitions and events during the next two days – including performances by the score composer duo Salim-Sulaiman, the singer Benny Dayal with his band Funktuation, and the stand-up comedian Abish Mathew.
