IIMB’s Centre for Teaching & Learning invites faculty to preview simulation game for courses on Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Decision-making and Negotiation

Corporate Entrepreneurship Simulation
In a fast-paced world, where change is the only constant, companies need to continuously innovate and invest in new businesses to survive and thrive. Corporate entrepreneurship or intrapreneurship refers to the set of endeavors by established corporations to reinvent themselves and stay competitive. The objective of the Corporate Entrepreneurship Simulation developed by Professor Srivardhini K. Jha and Professor Dalhia Mani is to underscore that entrepreneurial efforts can be and should be systematically nurtured within large corporations. Further, despite being mature organizations, large companies face the exact same challenges (and a few additional challenges) as they pursue entrepreneurial efforts within their organizations.
In this two-period game designed for a class of 18-100 students, participants will take a series of decisions, either playing the role of a manager in a company’s corporate headquarters (HQ) or in one of its subsidiaries, with the goal of securing their company’s profitability in the years to come. Through role playing, strategizing and decision making, participants will:
-
Understand the complexities involved in initiating and running entrepreneurial ventures within a large Multinational Corporations (MNC).
-
Understand the uncertain nature of entrepreneurial ventures and their outcomes, and its implication for having a portfolio approach.
-
Grasp the dynamics between the various constituents within a large multinational i.e., the HQ and the various subsidiaries.
The game is suitable to be played in courses on Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Decision making (in Multinationals) and Negotiation within organizations, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. It can also be used very effectively in executive education programs.
