PGPEM students win SIBM Bengaluru’s business case competition – ‘Eximius 3.0’

Team of Year-2 students include Naveen Rathani, Ranabir Dey, Gourav Kumar and Vishesh Garg

7 February, 2025, Bengaluru: A team of second-year students from IIM Bangalore’s Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management (PGPEM)—Naveen Rathani, Ranabir Dey, Gourav Kumar, and Vishesh Garg—has won Eximius 3.0, the flagship business case competition of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Bengaluru, held from 27 December 2024 to 19 January 2025.

The competition saw 380 participants competing across three rigorous rounds designed to test entrepreneurial acumen and decision-making skills. One of the key challenges required teams to conduct a gap analysis for a struggling e-retailer with less than three months of runway before a potential shutdown. Teams were tasked with identifying bottlenecks and proposing precise, feasible solutions to stabilize the business.

The IIMB team identified five critical issues in the startup’s supply chain and order fulfillment strategy. Their recommendations addressed gaps in process mapping, resource utilization, sourcing, distribution, financing, and technology which offered both short-to-medium-term and long-term strategies. By developing a future-state value stream, they delivered a roadmap for business revival within the crucial three-month period.
