Government sponsored Participants: All the officers from All India Services, Central Services, and State Civil Services in their mid-career.

PGPPM is designed to focus on:

  • Exposure to Management of Public Policy
  • Interdisciplinary learning
  • Peer- Learning & Experiential Learning
  • Self-study as a key ingredient of in-depth learning in policy specialization
  • Cross learning among services and between public and private sectors
  • A Comprehensive Policy Project providing an in-depth understanding of a chosen public policy issue.

The Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM) is a 48-week modular and hybrid PG Diploma programme offered by IIMB.

  • Term 1- Foundations-14 weeks (13 Weeks Online and 1 Week on Campus)
  • Term 2- Policy Framework- 12 weeks (On Campus)
  • Term 3- Policy Colloquia- 20 weeks (Online Electives)
  • Term 4- Policy Capstone- 2 weeks (On Campus)

Massive Open Online Course (MOOCs) Module: Sessions shall be asynchronous video modules hosted on IIMB MOOCs platform and while all required MOOCs sessions must be completed within the terms they are assigned in, the learner can self-pace their sessions and work to suit their schedule within the term.

Synchronous mode: Some sessions shall also be live and interactive, with enabled chat facility among the participants; and would involve conduct of periodic online quizzes and exams. The schedule of classes will be shared with students in advance.

  • Term 1 & Term 3- Online (Synchronous and asynchronous mode)
  • Term 2 & Term 4- in person (in Campus)

Qualification, experience, age, and other conditions – as notified by DOPT, Government of India sponsoring participants.

Participants are required to forward their applications to “Under Secretary (Trg), Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India, Block IV, 3rd Floor, Old JNU Campus, New Mehrauli Road, New Delhi 110 067 or their respective State/ Central ministries. They should send an advance copy of their application to “PGPPM Office, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore 560 076”.

For the Government participants, there is no application fee

The course fee for Government-sponsored participants will be paid by the sponsoring Departments as indicated in the DoPT notification for PGPPM 2024-25.

Accommodation will be provided on campus on a shared basis during Term 1 (1 weeks), Term 2 (12 weeks) and Term 4 (2 weeks). There are limited accommodation units. Hence, participants need to inform the PGPPM office beforehand, and this accommodation will be allotted on a first come first serve basis.

Candidates successfully completion of all requirements of the programme are awarded the Post Graduate Diploma in Public Policy and Management by IIMB.
