Professor A Damodaran appointed to UN Convention on Biological Diversity Expert Team on Financial Resource Assessment for GEF
Professor A Damodaran has been appointed as a Member of the Expert Team set up by the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) based in Montreal, Canada. CBD is part of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
The Expert Team will assess financial resources for the Washington DC based Global Environmental Facility (GEF). The GEF, administered by the World Bank, was set up in 1993 following the 1992 Rio De Janeiro Summit to fund climate change, biodiversity and desertification causes. The high-level Bureau of the Conference of Parties has now approved the panel. The CBD has 193 member countries, all of which are members of the UN General Assembly.
Professor A Damodaran is Professor in the Economics and Social Sciences area at IIMB and MHRD Chair Professor on IPR. He joined IIMB in September 2004. He has been associated with various national and international universities, institutes, and multi-lateral agencies such as GSOM, St Petersburg University (Russia), University of Wageningen, (the Netherlands), Indian Institute of Plantation Management, Department of Economics and Technological Change, University of Bonn (Germany), Natural Resource Institute, University of Manitoba, Canada, University of Berkley, California (USA), and the Center for Development Research (ZEF).
