Sustainability Taskforce to host talk on ‘ESG for a Sustainable Planet’ on 16th November
Session to be led by eminent author and speaker on Climate Change and Sustainability, Dr. Sailesh Rao
14 November, 2023, Bengaluru: The Sustainability Taskforce at IIM Bangalore will host a talk on, ‘ESG for a Sustainable Planet’, by eminent author and speaker on Climate Change and Sustainability, Dr. Sailesh Rao, from 6 pm to 7.30 pm on 16th November 2023, at Classroom N-001.
Some of the topics to be covered during the session include how businesses in the current chaotic environment need to orient themselves for a thriving, sustainable future; what they should consider in their day-to-day operations, how they need to measure their impact on the environment and society, and more.
About the speaker: Dr. Sailesh Rao has over three decades of professional experience and is the Founder and Executive Director of Climate Healers, a non-profit dedicated towards healing the Earth’s climate. He was the Co-founder of Silicon Design Experts in 1991 which was acquired by Level One Communications in 1996, which was later acquired by Intel Corporation in 1999. In 2006, he switched careers and became deeply immersed, full time, in solving the environmental crises affecting humanity.
Dr. Rao is the author of four books, Carbon Dharma: The Occupation of Butterflies, Carbon Yoga: The Vegan Metamorphosis, Animal Agriculture is Immoral and The Pinky Promise, and an Executive Producer of several documentaries, including Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret (2014), What The Health (2017), A Prayer for Compassion (2019) and The Land of Ahimsa (2022). His work is featured in the award-winning film, ‘Countdown to Year Zero’ produced by Jane Velez-Mitchell and Unchained TV. He was designated a Climate Hero by The Guardian Newspaper in 2023, which recognized him as “a foremost voice on green transition and on the true scale of societal change required to save the planet.”
IIMB’s Sustainability Taskforce was set up in April 2022 and has carried out several initiatives to make the institute campus a more sustainable campus. Prof. Haritha Saranga, faculty of the Production and Operations Management area of IIMB, is the Chairperson of the Sustainability Taskforce.
