Centre for Software & IT Management to conduct workshop on ‘User Experience Design: Fundamental Principles & Practical Applications’ on 12th & 13th July

21 May, 2024, Bengaluru: The Centre for Software and Information Technology Management (CSITM) at IIM Bangalore will conduct a workshop on, ‘User Experience (UX) Design: Fundamental Principles and Practical Applications’ on 12th and 13th July 2024, at the IIMB campus. The workshop will be led by product management leader and industry speaker Arun Sreelalan Iyer, Head of Product Management at Finuit, and Visiting Professor at IIM Calcutta and IIM Tiruchirappalli.

Registration details: Applications need to be submitted through this Link. The centre will revert to applicants with confirmation of their participation and necessary registration link. 

The last date of application is 16th June 2024; acceptance notification will be sent out by 21st June 2024, and the last date for registration is 30th June 2024.

About the workshop: One of the initiatives of CSITM is to coach and upskill professionals in Digital Transformation, Product Management and Design Skills, all of which are extremely relevant to the current technology industry. The workshop is part of this initiative.

Organizations need to focus on the user experience of their products, since users will abandon products with poor usability. This causes significant loss of business to organizations. The principles of designing great user experiences, evaluating designs and practical applications of these will be covered in the workshop.

The content of the design workshop will be focused on practical and universal principles. It will cover examples of poor and good design in real-world products, along with the challenges in using them; examples of poor software products; understanding of principles and Heuristics of UX Design in Software; understanding of common controls and components used in mobile apps and websites; how to perform UX Evaluation including research types, methods and best practices, and synthesizing all these concepts with practical in-class exercises.

The workshop will include class lectures, discussions, quiz, hands-on exercises and a take-home assignment. It would be ideal for Product Managers and Product Owners; Frontend and UX Engineers, and Early-stage UI/UX Designers. 

The key benefits for participants include compressed learning in just two days for busy professionals, covering both theoretical concepts and practical applications in UX and Product Design, receiving a Certificate of Completion, and connecting and networking with others in similar careers/roles.
