Centre for Public Policy to host the 6th lecture of its Foundation Day Lecture Series on 10 July
The talk on ‘Putting the wind beneath the Indian economy's sails’ will be led by Arun Maira
11 June, 2024, Bengaluru: The Centre for Public Policy (CPP) at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) will host the 6th lecture of the CPP Foundation Day Lecture Series on the topic: ‘Putting the wind beneath the Indian economy's sails’, from 5 pm to 6 pm on 10 July 2024, at the institute auditorium. The talk will be led by Arun Maira, former Member of India’s Planning Commission.

The past CPP Foundation Day lectures have been delivered by Justice N. Santosh Hegde, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India; Steven Wilkinson, Nilekani Professor of India and South Asian Studies, and Professor of Political Science and International Affairs at Yale University; Tridip Suhrud, writer, translator and noted Gandhian scholar; KK Shailaja, former Minister for Health, Social Justice and Woman and Child Development, Government of Kerala, and Mrinal Pande, well-known journalist, author, television personality, and former Chair of Prasar Bharati.
The Centre for Public Policy is an independent public interest-oriented policy think tank engaged in pioneering research, teaching, training and capacity building. The centre, established in 2000 through a partnership agreement between the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India (GoI), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and IIMB, aspires to lead policy thinking and praxis in India, promoting equitable, inclusive and sustainable solutions to the concerns of citizens and public governance.
About the speaker: Arun Maira has an unusual combination of experience as a hands-on leader in the business, public and social sectors, as well as a consultant to leaders. He is a thought leader on the subjects of leadership and systems transformation.
He has written several books on institutional transformation including, ‘Redesigning the Aeroplane While Flying – Transforming Institutions’, ‘Transforming Systems – Why the World Needs a New Ethical Toolkit’, ‘Discordant Democrats – Five Steps to Consensus’ and ‘Listening for Well-Being – Conversations with People Not Like Us’.
His latest book is, ‘Shaping the Future – How to Be, Think, and Act in the New World (A Systems Guide for Leaders)’, published in October 2023.
Arun Maira was a Member of India’s Planning Commission from 2009-14, prior to which he was Chairman of the Boston Consulting Group India, and previously had worked with the Tata Group in India and abroad for 25 years. At present, he is Chairman of HelpAge International.
