EPGP hosts fireside chat with Global Head of Non-Financial Risk at HSBC, Chris Dickens

The session covered non-financial risks and practical approaches for effective risk management

3 July, 2024, Bengaluru: The Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) cohort at IIM Bangalore hosted a fireside chat with Mr. Chris Dickens, the Global Head of Non-Financial Risk at HSBC.

In the ever-evolving landscape of business and finance, understanding and managing risks is crucial for the sustainability and growth of any organization, said Mr. Dickens. The session deep dived into the world of non-financial risks, offering a wealth of knowledge and practical insights. Mr. Dickens used real-life examples to illustrate the impact of non-financial risks on organizations, necessitating a proactive approach to risk management.

Following the insightful discussion, the floor was opened for questions. The interactive segment allowed participants to gain a better understanding of how to identify, assess, and mitigate risks effectively. As organizations navigate an increasingly volatile business environment, these insights are invaluable in building resilience and ensuring sustainable growth.

Mr. Dickens emphasized an integrated approach, proactive risk identification, and a risk-aware culture for organizations to better manage non-financial risks and safeguard their operations.

The session was moderated by Prof. Padmini Srinivasan. We thank Vikash Khandelwal, Bhavin Somaiya from HSBC, and IIMB alumni Harsh Choudhary and Rajasri Purama for their valuable contributions to the event.
