Prof. Robert M Davison, City University of Hong Kong, and Prof. Monideepa Tarafdar, UMass Amherst, to deliver the session

1 January, 2025, Bengaluru: The Office of Research and Publications at IIM Bangalore will host a research seminar on ‘Publishing in Top Tier Information Systems Journals - An Editor's Perspective’, on 9 January 2024, at 11.15 am, in Classroom N201. Drawing on their expertise in high-impact academic publishing, the session will be delivered by Strategy/Information Systems area faculty- Prof. Robert M Davison, City University of Hong Kong, and Editor-in-Chief, Information Systems Journal; and Prof. Monideepa Tarafdar, Endowed Professor at Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts Amherst, and the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of the AIS.

Speaker Profiles:

Robert Davison is a Professor of Information Systems at the City University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on the use and misuse of information systems, especially with respect to problem solving, guanxi formation and knowledge management, in Chinese organisations. He also explores digital transformation initiatives. He is particularly known for his scholarship in the domain of action research. Robert is the Editor-in-Chief of the Information Systems Journal and the Electronic Journal of Information Systems in Developing Countries. As a researcher and as an editor, he seeks to promote both an inclusive and an indigenous perspective to research.

Monideepa Tarafdar is Charles J. Dockendorff Endowed Professor at Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts Amherst and the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of the AIS. She is an alumnus of the doctoral program in MIS at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.  She has held appointments as Visiting Scholar at MIT Sloan CISR, the London School of Economics, IIM Calcutta, and Weizenbaum Internet Institute, Berlin. Her research has been funded by the Leverhulme Trust (UK) and the Economic and Social Science Research Council (ESRC-UK). As a Principal Investigator, she has secured funding of over 1.5 million USD. She is Scientific Adviser to a Dublin start-up that designs programs in wellbeing-oriented use of IT for schools and corporates and has been an invited member of the policy sub-group on Digital Skills of the UK Government’s Department of Culture, Media and Sports. She is a recipient of best paper awards from the Decision Sciences Institute, INFORMS and the AIS. She is listed among the top 2% cited faculty in the world in the 2023 Stanford citations rankings list, and is a Fellow of the AIS. Her research has been featured in Boston Globe, Chronicle of Higher Education, Economist, Guardian, Hindustan Times, MIT Technology Review, Reuters and Wired, among others, and in-person on BBC World News to an estimated live TV audience of 350 million.
