IIM Bangalore and Wipro Ltd. to jointly host global research conference on Advancing Global Sustainability Narratives

75 research paper presentations across 15 thematic tracks to drive cross-sector dialogue on sustainability

15 April, 2025, Bengaluru: The Supply Chain Management Centre (SCMC), a Centre of Excellence at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), in collaboration with Wipro Ltd., will host the International Sustainability Conference on ‘Advancing the Global Sustainability Narrative: Business, Policy, and Societal Imperatives Conference’. The three-day conference, designed to foster deep, cross-disciplinary dialogue on pressing sustainability challenges at the intersection of business, policy, and society, will be held from 24–26 April 2025, at IIM Bangalore and the Kodathi campus of Wipro Ltd.

About the Conference

The conference will open with a session on ‘Management Education as a Force for Good in a BANI World’ (BANI: Brittleness, Anxious, Non-linear, and Incomprehensible), followed by a critical plenary session on ‘ESG Disclosures—from ‘Compliance Checklist’ to ‘Catalyst for Change’… How to Make the Transformation Happen’. Day 1 will end with a keynote session titled ‘Climate Change: What if the Game Is Already Over?’, prompting urgent reflection on collective responsibilities across academia, government, and industry.

Day 2 will center on the social dimensions of ESG, beginning with a fireside chat on ‘Unpacking the reality of being a responsible business in today’s world: Lessons from the experience of a global CEO’, offering firsthand insights into ethical business leadership. The plenary session ‘The ‘Social’ of ESG: Putting people at the center’, will address the gap between normative ideals and real-world outcomes, examining pay equity, ethical sourcing, and the dignity of labor.

On day 3, the focus will shift towards business fundamentals and the ethical implications of emerging technologies with a session on ‘Value, Values, and Valuation: Have we lost the plot?’, and concludes with ‘The ESG and Technology’, which questions how businesses can balance technological advancement with human-centered values.

The event will close with a presentation on Wipro’s ESG initiatives and a guided walkthrough of its green Kodathi campus. With over 75 paper presentations across 15 tracks, the conference promises a rich blend of academic rigor, policy insight, and real-world impact, advancing the dialogue on sustainability across sectors.
